The Fire & Gas Detection Technologies (FGD) team is led by Y. Spector, who was the founder and CEO of Spectronix/Spectrex. Spector has been involved for many years in the development, implementation and marketing of leading concepts and technologies in the field of optical fire and gas detection. This included the introduction in the late 1970s of the UV/IR flame detector, followed by IR3 (triple IR) flame detection technologies and the flash type, open-path gas-detection technology in the early 1990s.

The FlameSpec-UV-IR flame detector provides ultra-fast response, high performance and reliable detection of a large variety of fires including hydrocarbon fires (visible and nonvisible), as well as Hydrogen fires.
The detector addresses slow growing fires as well as fast eruptions of fire using improved UV IR technology. The detector operates in all weather and light conditions.

FlameSpec FLS-FSIM Flame Simulators
The FlameSpec Flame Simulator provides fast and convenient detector verification in the field.
Flame simulators are often used by industry to perform detector testing during commissioning and periodic system testing. The FlameSpec simulators are inexpensive, lightweight and simple to use. The modern ergonomic design, with alignment markers, allows accurate, fast and convenient detector performance verification. Suitable for use in hazardous areas, the FlameSpec simulators can be used at distances of up to 23.0 feet (7.0 meters) from the detector.
Three different models are available for testing each type of FlameSpec Detector (IR3, IR3-H2 and UV-IR) All FlameSpec flame detectors perform automatic self-tests of their optics, windows, electronics and software. Additionally, the FlameSpec flame detectors can be manually put into alarm via the FGD communicator software or by short circuiting the “Manual BIT” terminal and the “24 VDC (-)” terminal for one second. The FlameSpec flame test simulators are designed to complement these inbuilt features by providing a fully external loop test capability.
